Dorchester Heritage Center Asks for Help Finding Family, Friends of Vietnam War Heroes Killed in Action
As part of the upcoming Wall that Heals traveling exhibit, the Dorchester Heritage Center seeks to honor service members from Summerville who lost their lives during the Vietnam War. Families and friends of these brave individuals are invited to participate in this special event, and the community’s help is essential in identifying those connected to the following veterans:
- Jack W. Brasington
- Jerry Truman Driggers
- William Ellis, Jr.
- John Lester Hines
- Thomas W. Poore
- Gary Kenneth Roberts
- Hilbert Marion Singletary, Jr.
- William Thomas Smith
- Larry Villanueva
These service members will be honored during the Wall That Heals event, which will take place at the Dorchester Heritage Center in Ridgeville, SC, from October 17 to October 20, 2024. This poignant exhibit features a mobile replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC, and serves as a powerful reminder of the more than three million Americans who served in the Vietnam War, including the 58,281 who made the ultimate sacrifice. The exhibit will be open to the public 24 hours a day, with closing at 2:00 PM on Sunday. Admission and parking are free, making this an accessible opportunity for everyone in the community to pay their respects.
If you recognize these names or have any information about their families, please reach out to Phyllis Hughes, the DHC Board Chair, at (843) 209-0644.
