On October 4, the Dorchester community gathered for a memorable day at the kick-off ceremony for the Dorchester Heritage Center (DHC), set on 81 acres of beautiful wetlands, forests, and green spaces. The event marked the beginning of an exciting journey to preserve and share the region’s rich history and natural beauty.

The festivities began at 11:30 a.m., with a warm welcome to the first 300 guests who enjoyed a complimentary lunch. Attendees had the opportunity to learn more about the DHC’s future plans, which include a 20,000-square-foot facility featuring state-of-the-art archives, a genealogy library, and a 7,000-square-foot museum exhibit space. Visitors can also look forward to event spaces, a recording studio dedicated to preserving local histories, and walking trails that showcase the area’s stunning landscapes
