About the Speaker: Jack Smith was named Poet Laureate for Dorchester County in 2001. He has published three books of poetry and recently he published his first novel, Ballads of the Bellum, which is available on line through several venues using ISBN 979-8-3694-1602-0. Jack has lived in Dorchester for nearly 46 years with his sweet wife Karen, who passed in May of 2021. He has shared his writings with the people of this county for the past 25 years. He has also performed all around this great nation from Los Angles to Washington DC. He was born in Indiana, raised in California; but having lived most of his 78 years here, if you were to ask him where home is he will tell you Dorchester South Carolina.
