On June 1, the Rosie the Riveter Car Show rolled into the Dorchester Heritage Site in Ridgeville. It was a fantastic day featuring a dazzling car show, music, food trucks, and a variety of vendors. The Edisto Natchez-Kusso dancers performed, providing an example of the cultural history that the Dorchester Heritage Center (DHC) aims to preserve.  Best of all, this event was completely free to the public.

The event also aimed to introduce people to the DHC and encourage involvement. Informational packets described the upcoming “Wall that Heals” event, a mobile replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC. The traveling exhibit honors the more than three million Americans who served in the U.S. Armed Forces in the Vietnam War. The Wall That Heals will be coming to  Dorchester County for the first time ever on October 17 through October 20, 2024.

Money made during the event went towards our operational expenses and general fund, helping us to continue our mission.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support and enjoy this wonderful community event. We look forward to seeing you next year for another memorable day!
