“Memorial Stones” includes one hundred thirty eight cemeteries found in upper Dorchester County, thirteen in Colleton County and two in Orangeburg County, with over 15,000 inscriptions that have been copied from tombstones and/or gathered from individuals through family histories.

Upper Dorchester County is divided into five townships and within each township the cemeteries and those interned are listed in alphabetical order and contain those interred from July 4, 1749 through July 15, 2011.

For genealogy purposes additional information has been included such as husband of, wife of, child of, CSA/US military service and some include the marriage date and in some instances a woman’s maiden name.
